Willows Story
About 5 weeks ago a former client called to say that they had a older dog who had lost control of everything and needed to be euthanized. We made an appointment; they chose not to stay with her and not to want her ashes back. After they paid for the euthanization, our practice manager walked in the treatment area to find 4 technicians and a doctor on the floor with this very overweight dog licking their faces. They all looked up at Gail (including the dog) with the same look – “please, please can we keep her and try to save her?” The truth was that Willow was not very old, but that her owner’s just couldn’t afford to keep her and treat her.
So, Gail called the
owner’s and asked the
m to surrender Willow to the care of the girls at
Faust. They agreed and even
let us keep the money they had previously paid so that we could try to
save her.
Willow has a few
problems; her thyroid doesn’t work well at all which contributed to her
weight, she was never spayed, and she has skin issues plus a little
“hitch” in her back legs.
But, we have been treating her thyroid with medication and she has lost
7 pounds since these pictures were taken!
She still needs to lose more, be spayed, have her back legs
checked for weakness. When
we can get her medical issues under control, we will try to find her a
home. She loves cats and
kids, she’s a little possessive around other dogs, but we’re working
with her.
We put a poster up
at Faust to tell our clients of her plight and they have been generous
enough to help with some of the cost of saving her.
She loves all her girls at Faust and we love her too.
If you would like to help Willow, call the staff at Faust to see
how you could help. Even if
you can’t help, you might want to come by and meet her – she loves
people!!
